They not only coordinate gut absorptive and secretory process, but also control mucosal immunity by presenting antigens to T cells. Dysregulation of the colonic homeostasis is often associated with intestinal inflammation, which underpins various intestinal disorders including bacterial infection, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and colonic cancer.；
